Jen had grace...more than anyone I have ever known. When I first met Jen I wanted to be a better person because of the way she lived her life. She didn't talk, she led by example.
On our honeymoon Jen and I rented bikes and followed the trails to watch the sun set. The sun was a glorious fire red that night. Then it hit us - that beautiful setting sun was our guide home. And it was fading fast. We hopped on our bikes and I felt an incredible sense of protection towards Jen. We were husband and wife now.
Jen and me walking, 5/29/2011
After Jen started using a walker part of our daily routine was to go for a walk around our neighborhood. We noticed that people could not resist the urge to stare. I still wonder what they were thinking...
I wish the best to Angelina Jolie and her family, her decision to have a preventive double mastectomy could not have been easy and I respect that she is sharing her choice. If we don't share our experiences how will we ever learn?
